Hong Kong 2k15

I know, I know. It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been pretty busy since it was the holidays and school started last week, but I would want to share with you my experience last December (Dec. 28 – Jan. 1) on my trip to Hong Kong!

(L to R) Hannah (little sister), me, and Kyle (little brother) riding the train. Hannah took this photo 🙂

This was my little sister’s first international trip, so it’s pretty exciting for us all! For the first time, I was in charge of the itinerary and the maps and all — so this is what I planned:

December 28 (Monday)

Morning: departure at 9:45 AM

Afternoon: check-in hotel Holiday Inn Golden Mile (Tsim Sha Tsui) (Nathan Road) and explore the area

Evening: sleep early for a big day tomorrow; dinner at Delicious Kitchen (more on that later)

= On the first day, almost everything went according to plan! We went to the airport early in the morning and had a light breakfast (as they were also serving breakfast in the plane). Unfortunately, I was really ill the day before so I was quite weak in the first few days of the trip. When we arrived in Hong Kong, we took the Airport Express (train) followed by a free shuttle service directly to our hotel. [I was so happy that the temperature during our entire stay was around 18 to 19 degrees. I do love cold weather.] We unpacked for a bit then went to iSquare (which is conveniently located across the street, yay!). I immediately went to two of my favorite stores in Hong Kong: Log-On (lifestyle specialty store) (I usually hoard on stationery and collectibles here) and HMV (music, films, games, and collectibles shop) (I buy limited edition CDs or DVDs here and posters or collectibles.) We went to the supermarket (which is also conveniently in iSquare) and got some light dinner because it was quite late and we were exhausted. Unfortunately, Hannah (my little sister) got a fever at night so we had to change the itinerary of the trip a bit.

December 29 (Tuesday)

[Originally, we were supposed to go to Hong Kong Disneyland today, but since Hannah got sick we moved it to the second to the last day.]

Today it was just me, my dad, and my brother as my mom had to stay with my little sister in the hotel to watch over her. We went to Wan Chai and Causeway Bay today (this plan was originally for the 30th).

Morning: Go to the Tai Yuen Street Market (Toy Street) – I absolutely love this place. You could buy toys and collectibles here for a cheaper price (versus going to Toys R’ Us or buying other stuff in Log-On). In order to get there, you must take the MTR to Wan Chai, and go to Exit A3. It’s located in between Queen’s Road East and Johnson Street. Aside from Toy Street, there’s also a large electronics building nearby (literally called “Computer Center” in the map) that sells a large variety of electronics – kinda like Greenhills (in the Philippines) in a building.

Afternoon: Causeway Bay. The usual places to go (MUST GO) are: Times Square, IKEA, HMV (again), Wellcome (supermarket), etc!)

The Millennium Falcon in Times Square! YEY.

Evening: Go back to the hotel. We stopped by Delicious Kitchen on the way back (I am so in love with their Double Pork Rib).

December 30 (Wednesday)

Morning: Rest (my brother, my sister, and I got sick 😦 )

Afternoon: Go to the flagship store of Toys R’ Us (it’s so huuuugee)

Evening: Dinner at Cafè de Coral

Today is a pretty chill day since Hannah recovered from her fever, so we didn’t want to tire her out too much.

But, oh my gosh, I discovered something in Sogo (Tsim Sha Tsui) – which is also conveniently near our hotel:

Oh my gosh, these things are so delicious. They are so addicting. It’s crunchy but soft on the inside with enough filling (custard, chocolate, or beans) which has the right amount of sweetness.

December 31 (Thursday)

Morning, afternoon, and evening: WHOLE DAY IN DISNEYLAND!

We left the hotel pretty early to avoid all the long lines when we do arrive.

Going to Disneyland! (L to R) Me, my mom, my little sister, my dad, and my brother!
Almost there!
First things first – breakfast. Mmmmm. So good.

It’s a small world after all!
A piece from the newest attraction – Fairy Tale Forrest! This is from the Little Mermaid.
Tangled (yes, that is Flynn Rider)!

January 1 (Friday)

Morning: Leave early to go to the airport (for shopping) 😦

Afternoon: Eat in the airport and last minute shopping!

Evening: Back in Manila!

I had such a fun trip with my family and can’t wait to travel some more in the future!

That concludes my trip to Hong Kong! 🙂 I hope you enjoyed reading and re-experiencing my trip with me! Comment down below if you’ve been to Hong Kong or any other Asian country and what your recommendations are for that country!
